Website Development
You can normally expect 3–5 weeks depending on scope and the speed with which clients respond to content and image requests.
Expect a reply within 1 business day to ensure I can remain productive for you and other clients.
I prefer to manage your domain name for your convenience and security, but I'm open to making exceptions. You always retain legal ownership of your domain name, even while I manage it.
No, I would go out of business because everyone would cancel immediately; but you always keep your domain and assets.
I run through my Site-Launch checklist (which I share with you) to ensure that all functionality, accessibility, technical SEO, and performance aspects are correct and up to my high standards.
"Page-builder" refers to drag-and-drop website creators like WordPress, Framer, Wix, etc. Custom-coded websites are faster, more secure, and produce a far higher quality end product, which is why I go that route.
A responsive website will scale, perform, and look good on every device size. I'm extremely meticulous about designing and testing websites so that they look and work great even on small devices.
Google provides developers with tools for testing the load-time of a web page. Pages that load faster are empirically shown to improve conversions and search ranking. Because my websites are custom-coded, I'm able to consistently achieve load times in the top 1% of websites.
Pricing & Payments
I require a minimum commitment of 12 months; after that we do month to month. I prioritize long-term relationships with my clients and want them to share that philosophy.
I would require payment of the rest of the contract amount. It takes over a year and a half on the Monthly plan to cover the Lump-Sum price of a website, even excluding the maintenance and upkeep work I do over that time.
No, that would be an unsustainable business model for me because everyone would cancel immediately; but you do always keep your domain and assets.
I allot a 10 day grace period for payments because I know sometimes things come up. Beyond that, I charge a late-payment fee of $35. Non-payment continuing for 30 days can be subject to suspension of service, contract termination, and acceleration of amounts due.
I do payments and recurring invoices through Square for your convenience and security.
Maintenance, Updates & Support
"Unlimited Maintenance Updates" are the normal updates, maintenance, and content changes that you would expect on any website. Examples include replacing images and logo files, bug fixes, updating contact information, adding/removing sections (within reason), and more.
To protect my business, there is some work that I have to charge for. Examples of things that are NOT included in maintenance updates are: full rebranding or redesigns, logo redesigns or replacements, and large expansions equivalent to creating one or more new pages. For more specifics, our contract legally defines the term in question.
You can expect updates to be completed within 5–7 business days unless otherwise specified.
For lump-sum clients, updates are billed at my hourly rate with a 1-hour minimum.
In addition to unlimited maintenance updates, I monitor your site's performance and search rankings, making improvements over time and keeping your website content up to date as your business grows.
